A bit about Christmas and consumerism

I’m tired of Xmas.

• Watching Walmart employees replace Halloween costumes with whimsical winter wonderland merch (it’s November, though)

• Black Friday announcements way before Thanksgiving

• Throwing things thoughtlessly in the Amazon cart (figuratively speaking)

• Constant commercial ads with coupons

• Watching nasty consumers criticize cashiers

• Buying the best for babies and then watching them play with the box (this is kinda funny, though, isn’t it)

• Making big markets more mega

• Swipe here, swipe there, swipe everywhere

Xmas leaves Christ out of Christmas, but Christ should be the center of it all.

Christmas is…

• Warm welcomes

• Remembering, reconnecting, and rekindling

• Empathy, sympathy, and compassion

• Giving, forgiving, lifegiving

• Long late-night laughter and

• LOVE

• Yes, feeling love, being loved, and loving the unloved

• Hugs held for a long time

• Peace to all who pass

• And the joy of Jesus

• Emmanuel, God is with us

Sidenote: I know the actual pronunciation of Xmas. LOL
